The second KSA that I have chosen is attitude and practical excellence. Personally, I believe that an individual's attitude is a crucial approach to life. Those individuals to never give up are truly destined for success, while those who quickly walk away never learn the importance of persistence and learning.
As such, I have attached a journal entry from my internship class highlighting and summarizing my learning experiences and how I have overcome any challenges that were in my way. Through my past endeavors, I have learned to become more proactive, attentive, and active in all of the tasks that were handed to me. In my internship class, we are responsible for keeping a journal that follows the concepts of Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. In our third entry, we were asked to discuss habits 4 and 5, which elaborate on the idea of thinking "win-win" and "seek first to understand, then be understood". In my journal, I clearly detail my personal attitudes regarding these two habits and how I have applied them into my life.
After reading Stephen Covey's book, I have been more conscious of how I approach daily situations and learned the importance of carefully listening to others in order to gain a better understanding. Through that, I am able to listen more carefully and comprehend the needs and desires of those around me. Also, I am able to apply it to my future skills so I can better help those I am interacting with. This is significant, because by having a positive mind-set I am able to handle situations in a manner where everyone can mutually benefit from something.
