Being able to think outside of the box is extremely important, especially in the marketing industry. As a marketer, I will be responsible of determining effective ways to reach a variety of audiences, even across the world. The fourth KSA that I have chosen is the ability to generate and evaluate feasible alternatives.
In my marketing communication course, my group and I were responsible of addressing a problem at Towson University and coming up with an appropriate solution or alternative. Attached below, I have included an ad and report that I created in order to promote a parking application to help relieve the stress that students face when trying to find parking spots on campus. This was very significant to me, because it allowed me to carefully focus on a problem that I could relate to and come up with a unique way to help solve it. I was responsible for determining which important facts should be placed on the ad in order to immediately grab the viewer's attention. I had to pay close attention to the color choice, font and pictures, because I was aware that my ad would be directed towards college students who were constantly in a rush. Also, the report highlights the reasons why I focused on the parking at Towson and what steps can be taken in order to help accommodate to the student's wants and needs.
In marketing it is vital to be creative. We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded by advertisements and in order to be distinguished as an effective marketer, it is important to be original. By working on this project, I have learned the importance of viewing things from different perspectives and coming up with innovative ideas that benefit those who really need it. It has allowed me to become more creative and critical in not only the marketing field, but in my daily tasks as well.
